    Vacation for Samson and Asher

Finally....vacation. We started on out Thursday. My boss let me work 1/2 day so I was able to leave at 1 pm and avoid making the journey in the dark. We drove 5.5 hours and stayed in Winchester VA. Chose a hotel with outside doors. Was able to park right in front of the door. Made it so much easier. Samson was A-OK in the room, Asher not so much. lol Outside the room was a large intersection and I couldn't get the curtains closed enough to stop shadows. I literally had to take a mirror off the wall because he could see shadows in it. He kept me up the majority of the night while Samson snored away. We left the hotel 08:30 and arrived our happy place at 1:30. Ordered take-out from my favorite spot, Sooey's BBQ, and then checked in to our next hotel at 3. Asher was just fine there. No reflections. The family arrived at 7:30. We lucked out and had adjoining rooms. My 15 yr old nephew slept in the room with us. Samson slept in his bed. It was so adorable. Samson was so excited. His tail was sooooo loud smacking on that bed. During the night, if Kelton moved, that tail would start going. Then if I looked at Samson, he jumped across and got in bed with me. Then Kelton would sigh, there went Samson jumping back across!

Checked in to our rental house yesterday at 1 (ready 4 hrs early - YAY). Nestor passed through earlier today -- gusts to 55 and the house rocked. Was gone by 1 and the family spent about two hours out on the beach. Sun was beautiful and it got really warm -- 75ish. I sat on the deck with the boys. Looking forward to Kayaks tomorrow. I'm excited to get the boys in the sound. I'll have more pictures there. I got Asher a new harness. It's a K9 harness with a front grip. I can lift the weight off his front going up and down the stair. House is 3 stories. I plan to limit the up and down to twice a day. I can feel it in my lower back a bit but for him, I know it's helping 100%. I'll probably make one or two trips across the dune this week. It's not horrible but I am not putting Asher through it knowing his elbow is totally shot.

Here are some pictures (I'm using links from FB- hope it works). I love spending all this time with the boys (and family of course). My work is demanding and 24/7 so this is the only time I am 90% free of work. I love it. They do too!

Glad you made safely. Great pics.

I've seen hacks that use the hangers with clips or binder clips to keep hotel curtains closed.
