Poor Archie! Hope he heals quickly!

Our beagle had to wear one after having a growth cut off his leg. It was February, and there was about 6-7 inches of snow on the ground. In typical beagle fashion, he walked nose to the ground. Every time he lifted his head, he'd get a cone full of snow. I felt bad for him, but it was so funny!

How are your shins? the cone seems to be the perfect size for bashing edge-first into your shins, leaving wonderful narrow bruises, as if someone had taken a crop to them. Used to take me a week or so to heal up after the dogs were healed!
Hope Archie heals up quickly. Our experience with the cone was like Scoutpout's...a sharp plastic knife-like object hurtling at your ankles.

I remember the night we brought Lola home after she was spayed. She was so drugged up, but when we brought her food out she wobbled to her feet. We laughed so hard when the cone went flat to the ground while Lola ate her dinner out a bowl, and then swerved back to her bed.

He's been getting me good in the back of the knees. It's sensitive back there!

I've also been sleeping on the floor on a mattress to try to keep him calm overnight, and last night I had the pleasure of being jolted awake by the cone smacking me in the face. I'm not convinced that was an accident

Ram recently spent two weeks in a cone, not consecutive weeks. He had two hot spots at two different times on his back end. They were probably both my fault for not drying him enough after swimming. The cone from the vet's office was soooooo heavy and it had the tabs around the neck for a collar or cloth to tie it on and he hated it, and it hurt when he would hit me with it. I also almost poked him in the eye with one of the tabs.

I bought him a Kong plastic collar which is soooooo much lighter and it doesn't have the tabs around the neck. He didn't seem to mind it at all.

I also bought him the inflatable cone that he wore to eat and just for a break from the plastic one while he was right under my nose, like watching TV.
