Running Interference - I'm SO Happy - Lexie and Kittens Update

The Chat About Cats section isn't up yet but I can't wait to tell you.

The kittens and Lexie are out in the living room and we've just had the most marvellous time. I ran interference with Oban. Between Oban and the kittens? Nope, between Lexie and Oban. She's flown at him through the screen door a couple of times when all he was doing was looking in and wagging his tail. He barked back. To be fair, I bet he chased her when she was living wild in the backyard and she does have babies.

But just as both dogs off leash is better than one on, one off, so too it seems to be here; sort of. No screen door which means the freedom to run if the critter thinks it might have to. Even so, I kept myself between Lexie and Oban. My hand, my arm, my leg between his eyes and her. She's careful, so is he. But she walked around, got close and just now came upstairs and had a nose sniff with him and even rubbed her head up against his chin. Maybe it's because she's in heat but she's being very mellow right now. I'm so happy. But I won't trust her too far, yet.

If Oban doesn't move the kittens will come sniff his toes, tail, back. But if he takes a deep breath in his sleep or even blinks they skitter away. I did have Dilly get close and she ate treats on the floor while Oban did too. Great progress.

That is wonderful news. It is so much easier when everyone gets along.

Penny will start playing with Sarah's moving tail then realize it is attached to a big dog then sometimes run she is getting used to her and Ginger.

I'd really like to get pictures of them with Oban.

I was happy again later in the day after the OH came home with all his gear and noise and bluster and they skittered away to hide. But I wanted them back in the laundry room for their supper. One by one they all came out to me when I called and I could scoop them up and deposit them back behind the screen door. I'm so pleased they trust me enough to do that. Mind you, I had to make the OH be quiet first but he stayed right there with me and they still came out.

The litter that I had were all adoppted last week and now I have a new litter of babies I got last week. They are about 5 weeks old now and eating on thier own. They are tabbys and looked like little wild cat cubs. I have Grizzly,Nala,Simba and Rafiki.
