      Up sell vet

Does anyone have issues with their Vet office trying to up sell them every time they go for office visits?
Our current Vet is great once you get past the front office and we have used them and recommended them to friends for years.
But now every time we need to go there the front office people try to sell us everything under the sun.
Some things they just add and you have to check the paper work before you sign anything or you will agree to services you didn't want or need.

Time to change. The vet is ultimately in charge of the front desk help. If they are upselling, its on the vet's orders.

What JenC said. Also, by any chance did the practice get sold to one of the chain vets? That has been happening a lot lately. They seem to be the ones that push the vets to upsell.

agree with Jenn. Should you really like them maybe have a chat with them ask say you don't want ot be offered any up-sell and then if they do again, leave and tell them why.

The Vet did not sell but they did a big remodel project to expand about 2 years ago, but the upsell thing didn't start until about a year ago and it seems to get worse each visit.
We only have 3 vet offices in our town and they seem to be the best of the 3. A few years ago there were only 2 and they were only open week days 9:00 to 5:00.
A new one came into town and had 7 days a week and long hours, so the others now have longer hours now and open on Saturdays.
I have never been to the new vet them but friends say they are not very friendly and they are expensive.

I'm not sure if our vet feels sorry for us because of Georgia's pancreas problems she had but he doesn't charge us for everything he does and suggests other places or stores where we can buy products from.
      Thanks Everyone!!

I'd definitely have a discussion with the vet. If not a positive response, would be looking for a new vet.

I would switch. I hate going to any business that pushes things on me.

I agree with the others. You shouldn't be pressured to buy extra stuff every visit. I've been using the same vet for almost 20 years now, and while they aren't cheap by any stretch, they are reasonable. I took Bruce in today, needed paperwork signed for the Kennel Club stating Bruce has two fully descended testicles, for his export pedigree. The doc check him fill out the paperwork, and we talked about OFA clearances and a couple other things. Cost? No charge for the visit. I thought that was pretty awesome.

My wife likes the vet and wants to talk to them about it, but I think I they crossed the line.
When it was ime for our almost 15 year old Zeus to make his last vet visit, my wife and I had spent a long time deciding how we wanted to remember him. Our choice was to not save his ashes because we wanted to remember him through the years of pictures and videos not a container on the shelf. Any how we made these aragments ahead of time and the morning we got there they had added charges for saving the ashes, and a urn. Then they tried to upsell an more costly urn, pictures, paw prints. Then asked if we were getting another pet and if we wanted an appointment for him. I did not want to ever go back but my wife said to try them again, and the did the same upsell bit to sell us puppy sarvices and insurance and other things we did not need
