      Archie's Awesome Day

Archie here: Mom took me to a thing called Pawgust Fest. WOW, there a lot of dogs, mostly labs. Apparently it's a lab rescue thingy. They were all running free, playing, swimming, having a great time. I looked up at Mom with begging eyes, "Mom, I'll be good". Then I hear it, a click, and feel it, loosening of the collar. Mom says, "Go ahead big boy, you're free".

      FREEDOM

First to the pools. Hey Mom, this one's bigger than at home.

      Ugh, water in my ear.

Then full run to the lake.

Mom called me from way across the field and I figured if I wanted to stay free, I better high tail it back. Mom was so happy I got tons of rubs, hugs and good boys. Then I was off again, play bowing, sniffing butts and being sniffed. WOW, it was heaven running free. So many new friends to meet and play with.

To make it even better, Wylie and his human Andy were there. Wylie loves swimming. Must admit, I was not so sure about it but I did get my belly wet.

Here we are for our annual picture. Look how much Wylie has grown! Don't know what Mom was doing with her face; maybe my licking it?

OK, Archie, Mom's turn. Awesome event. First time I've let Archie run totally free with that many dogs. He was excellent, coming each time I called without hesitation. The look he had, the smiles, the tongue hanging out, it warmed my heart. It was hot and humid so after a while I leashed him back up and we (GD and I) sat down for some lunch under the tent. Entered the raffle and won three prizes! I cannot express how good Archie was, how well behaved, how he had excellent manners around all the other dogs, big and small, all breeds. It was great seeing Andy and Wylie again. Wylie has grown so much since last year and is so handsome. He's a true lab, loving the water, heck, loving life.

OK, Archie, you've shown me. Next trip, back to the beach, off leash.

      YEAH!
