Ha! For more than one reason (primarily because Barley is not quite 7 months) I only bought a 3 ft. tree and put it on the console table. It was crazy fast and easy to decorate. Might be the way to go even with Barley older next year. Smallest tree I ever had!

Murphy went with us to the Tree Farm to pick out the tree and "helped" us decorate. Here he is hours alter, collapsed from his hard work. So very thankful he doesn't bother the tree!!!

It's my first christmas with a lab. Tree will be secured and only non-breakable, lab-tail-proof ornaments hung. I just hope he doesn't eat them.

I decorated my first tree in several years. It is a new experience for both my cat and dog. I went with a small (5 foot) tree and left off all the breakable ornaments -- favorites are hung high. I tied the tree to a picture hanger (after removing the picture) and also to the latch on the window. I hope that is secure -- it also has a very wide plastic stand.

So far so good. It has been 5 days and no feline has climbed it and no canine has wagged his tail too hard or decided to lift his leg to mark it or even drag it around the house a chew toy!!! Today is the first day that they've been alone with it for the entire day so my fingers are crossed that it will still be standing when I get home! It is the water spilling that I really dread.

By the way -- the photos that everyone put on this thread are lovely!

Surprisingly, Bacon did just fine last year with the tree (and he was only 4 months old) and doesnt seem to care that it is up this year.

Securing it to the wall is a good idea, hadn't thought of that before. We also are not having a tree this year. Gibson is great about not chewing on normal household stuff, but he loves to check out something new......and he likes to eat cardboard boxes. We hung a small lighted tree decoration on the wall, good enough!!
