Sounds like it was meant to be, doesn't it? So glad everything's going so well.

You've got to wonder at his history...it seems so unlikely that a pup so young would be "lost"....I'm thinking original owners won't be found.

You guys won't believe this. To my amazement, Carver slept the whole night without so much as a whimper! I made sure he was worn out before bed time and when I put him in his crate he just laid down in his bed and went to sleep! I'll take the good nights when I get them! Lol.

Carver is adorable. How could you not keep him?

That is exactly what I was thinking. How do you lose a dog that young?? It's not like he opened the front door and let himself out.

Funny you should say that. My hoss has been able to open the screen doors from day one of bringing him home. I have to make sure they are latched at all times. Of course, Theo was quite a bit bigger than Carver at eight weeks and weighed in at 18 pounds at that age.

It's easier than you think to lose a puppy. A little JRT followed us one night. Some one had opened the door while carrying something, she toddled out, got stuck outside, saw us and bounded gleefully after us. We guessed correctly that she was from the house we were in front of, knocked on the door and said, "Is this yours?" The man was dumbfounded, embarassed and very grateful.

I guess the only dog I ever "lost" was my sister's. I used to let both her cocker spaniels out to do business when they went out of town. They had a fenced in backyard but somehow Riley always found his way out. I searched for holes, never found any. Not sure how that butt got out but he did. Luckily, he would go out the back and wait at the front door for you to "find" him.

I'm not saying you can't lose a dog...I just think that when someone "loses" a small dog like that and you don't see flyers or hear about it in the neighborhood or at the animal shelters, it wasn't really an accident.

I am sure can and does happens, quite accidentally. My nephew has accidentally let their young dog out just holding the door open to talk to a friend. My brother had to put latches at the top of the door to prevent it from happening. Please make sure you do everything possible to ensure there isn't a frantic owner, heartbroken, looking for this pup. Thank you for keeping it safe in the meantime.

Oh my gosh! The cutest ever! Keep posting photos as he gets older. I am so curious to see how he will develop. He look lab with something else thrown in. But adorable - and I cannot imagine him going somewhere else at this point!
