    Rescue sling?

Does anyone carry some type of sling when they hike? I sometimes think about the possibility of my dog being injured while we are out, and having no other way to haul him out other than slinging him across my shoulders.

Just like hitchhikers guide to the galaxy says always carry a towel.

Seriously. Can be quickly torn for bandages, used as a sling, laid on the ground to drag if needed. Can even be used to dry a wet lab, a tug toy, an attempt to get the mud off them before they get in the car. I don't carry this when I am going to well known and paved trails, but around the lake and off the beaten path it never hurts.

Oh and I also have doggy first aid kits, at home, in the truck and in the RV. Small one for truck large one for home medium one for RV.

Also the Red Cross has a pet first aid app for you phone. You have to purchase it, but it is not that expensive and great emergency information in there. Also the red cross has pet first aid classes which include CPR.
