Just a reminder again that most of the general public with dogs are idiots. LOL We had Hudler intact until he was 8 and got testicular cancer. My husband had him at the dog park every day in the morning when he was young. There was a group that went, and every dog, intact, fixed, big, small, pitbull, whatever breed...they all got along great. Then "strangers" would come in and have a hissie fit over Hudler's testicles and their dog would cause the problem. Idiots I tell you.

Totally. The dog world would be very different if everyone was required to take some sort of obedience classes or etiquette and education classes.

    OK...blood pressure's up now.
This is very strange. I don't know how it's possible for us to have the same "friend" (former in my case) with a horribly reactive Cocker Spaniel. When her dog would nip another dog or a person, "she was just very excited". Can't tell you the number of times Ram would have to go and stand between her dog and another dog. Because Ram is such a calm dog, she said he was "boring". This is the first friendship that I have had to end as an adult, she's also very excitable. Wrong energy for me and Ram.

Yeah the average pet owner seems to not have a clue. Right down to the poop ALL OVER the "on leash" trails and the KIDS PARKS!! Hope your pup is ok.

I was walking the pups on "on -leash" only trails the other day. pen was off leash but I leashed her up as I hard another dog coming (luckily he was wearing a loud bell). The big black lab-mix dog walked towards us and I bakced up with my two on leash. The dog kept advancing and since the dog wasn't listening to his owner's "come" the owner tells me "he's friendly". I kept backing up and told him his dog was not approaching in a friendly way. I could see the lip lifts, lip licking, and the stalking as he was facing me. I assume Penny was giving the stink eye and Rocky was minding his own busines. but neither made a sound or moved.

Sure enough, the dog attacks ROCKY. I kid you not. I ended up fallign on my back and grabbing the dog by the neck holding him inches frmo Rocky til the owner arrived.

Owner did not say a word. oh wait he did, he asked if I was ok. I told him his dog was NOT FRIENDLY, checked the dogs and then left. I was so mad.

Anyway, as mentionned, the sad part is this is common occurance and most of us have been there

Yep, happens all the time. Most people really have no business owning dogs. I've got numerous awful stories of my own, I feel very lucky that nothing worse has happened in any of these encounters. That's why I don't mind getting up at 5am to walk my dogs while no one else is out.

I feel like I am mean because I don't want ANYONE coming up to my dog. I don't care who you are, leave me and my dog alone. I am not out for your pleasure or entertainment. Does that make me mean? Oh well...don't care if it does.

I hear you. We have been rushed my 1 mix, 1 large Doberman, 1 lab, and 1 pitbull in the past few weeks ... 3 different neighborhoods. My girls are not friendly but luckily have actually behaved well in all of these situations, luckily all the dogs were friendly and when Cedar gave her warning they all backed off. I would not have been able to deal with a pit or doberman if a fight had happened. My one friend just suggested to me that I get some pepper spray to carry with me on walks.
