I have a Whirlpool top-load and am happy with it. It cleans clothes, I don't need it do to anything fancy.

Thanks CraftHer! I'll be on the lookout for this feature.

This has nothing to do with washers... I love Sam's collar

Some people may disagree - but our appliance guy told us to stay away from LG and Samsung this year. They have had notoriously bad electrics, and they are hugely expensive to repair if anything goes wrong with the motherboard or anything like that.
We were looking at the Whirlpool Cabrio at Lowes yesterday. How do you like the washer so far?

I have not taken delivery as of yet. Our new home is undergoing renovations for the next few months and we will not be living there...however my dad has both whirlpool cabrio top loaders - the 5.5 cubic ft model or maybe the 6.1 cubic ft... I don't remember...but he is happy with his.

Some people have issues with mildew smells, but I do not. You're supposed to leave the door ajar (there's a magnet that holds it closed without shutting the door the whole way) which allows it to dry out. I also clean the rubber lip where the dog hair and water pools with bleach about once a month or so. It fits dog beds, comforters, etc. Finally, my favorite part (and I'm assuming all newer washers have this) is that you can delay the start time of your wash.

Home Depot has a huge sale on Memorial Day and July 4th if you can hold out. I got my set for around $1,200. Unlike what xracer above said, I read a consumer reports magazine about washers and dryers as I was in the market and it said to stay away from Whirlpool, Kenmore, GE, etc. and to stick with LG and Samsung.

I have to say also, that I love having a stackable set. It creates so much space in my utility room, which is huge for me because I have a very small house. My utility room is pretty much my favorite room in the house now!
Honestly, I have no idea which way to go haha. I ended up buying the whirlpool stuff because my dad has them and he's been happy with them. My mom has stack-able samsungs and likes them.

To be honest, I think that the salespeople sell whatever they "need" to sell.

I have the Whirlpool Cabrios and I like them a lot. The dryer turns itself on for a few seconds after 10 minutes of the cycle being done... supposed to prevent wrinkles if you're pokey getting your stuff out.

I would buy them again in a hot minute.

When I was buying a new set two years ago it made me crazy......there's good and bad reviews for every brand and type. I ended up with Whirlpool front loaders, but honestly I never really had problems over the years with any of my washer and dryers. The new ones really do dry quickly, its nice.
