That is so sad. Some folks just do not do the research or don't care.
My friend sent me a clipping from the newspaper yesterday. It was free to good home 7 month yellow lab. I know it happens but I still can't wrap my head around who someone would rehome their dog.
I so wanted to call but I know I can't financially and time wise do another dog right now. I hope this sweetie got a good forever home. It at least required a fenced yard and said potential home would be screened. I always worry what sicko will get a dog when they are given away for free.

I think it's a simple case of someone getting into something they knew absolutely nothing about. We all know how horrible the average Lab puppy can be, and how much time, energy and expense can go into raising a pup. They see these great well behaved adult dogs, and have no clue what it takes to get from horrible puppy to amazing adult. Next thing they know they have a 60+ pound out of control animal running amuck and tearing stuff up. Next thing you know, the puppy is free to a good home.
It saddens me greatly.
I worry too when they give dogs away like that instead of turning over to a reputable rescue or shelter. Wish I was closer I would have taken him.
