uugghh ew! Jules tried to play with a dead rabbit that he found in the back yard. EW! I ran around screaming at him "drop it!" Thankfully, he listened.
I was relaxing on the sofa, reading a book and listening to the light rain. It was all very peaceful and the dogs were outside. I remember at one point wondering what they were up to but not wanting to get up and see if they were getting into trouble. Then I heard a faint squeaking outside. Next, both dogs barreled through the dog door and Ava plopped something down in the middle of the living room. Is that a rat? No! It's a mole and it's still alive.
Bad dog. I had just been thinking how nice it has been because she hasn't been digging as much as she used to. Now she thinks there is fun live treasure under the ground to go dig for.
I also learned that Ava's Leave It response, which is typically very good, is nil when it comes to live moles. I had to lead her away and lock her up so I could deal with the mole.

Oh! She brought you a gift! How sweet. LOL I think many of us have been though this horribly kind situation.

Nah! It wasn't for me. She wanted to play with it but it was raining outside so she wanted to play inside.
What a way to break the silence on a lovely break. Yuck! Ava must have felt it was a good idea of how to rid herself of boredom on a rainy day. So decided to call the mole a toy. See Mom, she's being good.

Ewww - Max has brought me dead mice before, but thankfully never anything still alive.
"Look what I brought you mommy!" "No need to thank me!!!"
YUCK! At least not having a doggy door worked for us the day Bandit brought a juvenile opossum up on the back porch. Yes, it was playing opossum and in short order scurried off, right into the garage.
Guess our idea for a fun toy is not the same as theirs.
Aww I bet the look of pride had to hide some of the ick from having a mole in the house!
