We have chickens to eat the ticks but we do occasionally get them on the dogs or ourselves. I would suggest having a tick removal station with tweezers and a bottle of isopropyl alcohol. Put them in an area with good lighting and just always go there to remove the little nightmares. We also use Lymeblaster to sanitize the area after removal.

So far, knock on wood, no ticks. But the mosquitoes here, terrible.

We live in NY (Tick GROUND ZERO) so when it comes to preventitive, we go napalm! I swear by vectra 3D flea/tick drops. *knock on wood* haven't seen one tick in 3 years! I dont care about holistic hippie crap when it comes to bugs ... bring on the chemicals!!!

Must just say: So far, so good! Had just one tick this year and we've got no preventative. If it stays like this, we won't have to even start using chemical warfare. In spite of all the tick hoo-ha here, we seem to have been pretty safe, but it might be just because there are not that many trees where we go for our walks and not much shrubbery either; there's a lot of high grass though, up to your knees or even higher.
