I've always neutered my males, just felt it was better health wise for them. But I don't begrudge anyone who doesn't. Lazy people in my opinion, who feel intact males shouldn't be around their neutered. Easier to point the finger than look at their dog or the lack of discipline.

We have a dog park not far from our home, but I've never been. I want Lilly to interact with other dogs and people, as she does love to be around them, but will do so with a group of people that I know understand and respect people's decision on how they raise their dogs. I have met a few dog owners in my neighborhood that I have been enjoying the time with, and will look into structured puppy classes.

Chili is stunning, as I've seen photos of him. And after the time it took for him to rehabilitate (so glad he's doing so well), keeping him safe from those lazy owners, who think neutering is all they need for their dogs, I would nix the dog park and find alternatives for your stunning guy.

This link shows some of the rules, I like how they are calling spaying/neuter "ethical" treatment. HEART Ordinance Information
Yes I paid the yearly 150 dollars to keep chili intact. The only thing that gets me is if animal control picks him up for whatever reason they won't neuter him on the spot and will call me first. but thats different subject. I plan on neutering chili because its the only way to enjoy what the city has to offer. I just don't understand why all the fuss over not accepting intact dogs. in my opinion liability is liability. and our society is training owners with the wrong message. I and chili are just as guilty of doing wrong whether chili is neutered or not if chili injures another animal. Just seems like an easy way out....to blame the intact dog.

Hemi is not neutered and is in no way aggressive. I do know there are some dogs that are not big fans of Hemi's even though Hemi is not paying any attention to him but those are very few and far between. I actually do not prefer to take Hemi to the dog parks. While there are some nice people there, there are a lot of idiots too. One of the places Hemi and I go is actually over by the National Gaurd post, they have a fenced in baseball field. One way in and out. We go over there off leash and play fetch. During the week especially in the off baseball season no one is ever there. I only mention the national guard because high schools, and parks usually have people there but there are baseball fields all over cities that are mostly vacant. You could try using google maps and look around you as some are kind of hidden away. As long as you bring poop bags no one usually cares.

I do this when I visit my mom as well. My old home town softball is a just normal tradition. The factories around there sponsor teams and they have tournaments and so on, they have a huge really nice 4 diamond softball center, which sits vacant from September until June, then in the summer during the normal work day it is vacant as well.

I am doing some research now on where to let him have some fun off leash. I know a close softball stadium complex has big signs that say no pets allowed but I am sure I might be able to have selective eyesight every now and then. maybe I will call the city up and make some suggestions. as far as i know the only time you can have your dog off leash is in the city run dog parks.
