    Band aids

Any time DW or I have a band aid on Mocha cannot stand it. I had blood drawn today and came in with the tape and gauze pad on my arm. He has to take it off. He is so gentle and uses his front teeth to grab only the band aid. It really worries him to no end. Well it does end when the offending sticky thing is removed.
    Anyone else experience this?

Potion was like that, being very gentle, just those tiny front teeth doing the work. Keep fun print band aids for the grans and GD went through a stage that she just had to have one on, boo boo or not. Drove Potion nuts!

Never had a lab pull bandages off, but all seem very interested/concerned about injuries, especially if they bleed. Sunshine is particularly aggressive about this. I get cuts and scrapes all the time, mainly because I have an overactive lab pup! LOL! She will usually notice the bleeding before I do and NEED to lick the "owie" for me. She will still run and play but keeps coming back to check the Owie. When I am home and taking care of it, she is right there, and I mean right there, watching and her nose going as I peroxide and Neosporin then bandage it. I have to keep her back as she constantly wants to lick it. I've had a few get infected and start to puss up, and she is the first to notice. Her nose is going and she insists on licking the bandage. I'll check, deal with it and bandage up again and she is right there to keep a nose on it. As long as the bandage is on, she NEEDS to check on it it seems. Every time I change dressings, she NEEDS to sniff and try to lick the old bandages. She actually PUSHES to check the actual wound, but she seems satisfied if I show her the old bandage.

Once the bandage is off, she is no longer interested in that area. I have practiced her having an "Owie" and did the first aid required then bandaged it. She just seemed confused that I did this to her. She would lie down and lick, lick, lick the band aid until it came off. I'd yell at her to leave it alone, and she would, for a few minutes then go back to licking it. I found by wrapping the whole area in an Ace type bandage, the she got the hint and left it alone.
