LOL... I'm afraid to ask what you ladies are referring to when you say something "sparkly".

My girlfriend does have a maltese and he is a little spoiled, but he is so quiet and unobtrusive. She has never really been around labs until Chopper. Chopper does have an attitude and he is very strong willed. I like this about him. I think this trait will make him a good bird dog.

Yes, I am very analytical. I am an Engineer by trade. Therefore, yes everything is black and white to me. My girlfriend is the emotional one. She sweats every little detail. Me? I don't sweat the small stuff. She has put Chopper in time out. I am not so keen on timeouts. I have never put Chopper in timeout. Not because he is always perfect, but because I take on every single issue with him head on when it happens. I will not relent until he does what I say. Either I win or we continue to butt heads.

I'll check out the On the Pot exercise. I have never heard of it before.
Oh gosh, don't mention it! I am happy to help.

I work with engineers, so I get it. I can be quite pragmatic myself, actually.

I hope you can make it this weekend. Bring your girlfriend, but just be warned there will be live flyers there!

Nothing crazy. Maybe a new pair of earrings if she wears those a lot, a bracelet, a necklace, etc. You don't have to spend a lot, but jewelry makes almost everything better. I would stay away from anything in ring box... ring boxes are very exciting or very terrifying when you are boyfriend/girlfriend! ;-)

I dont believe you were thst harsh but i personally prefer a no nonsense approach to everything but perhaps just relax a bit, it will all fall into place.

Going from a small dog to a lab is a big change, let her find her groove. You overcame the biggest challenge, finding someone who wants you and your goofy lab puppy. Offer tips and suggestions without sounding over bearing. When shes venting, just listen and be supportive, thats all women really want. Trust me i sometimes think i vent just to hear my own voice, im not really looking for a solution, just want to be heard

I dont know about the sparkly stuff, does nothing for me. Bringing me gorgeous flowers and cooking me dinner will make me swoon, perhaps a massage and a tub full of hot water and bubbles too, you will be forgiven then

    So sexist..

If your girlfriend is anything like me OP, I can't be bought with jewelry.

Just a nice gesture...of course it wouldn't solve real problems but it works as a nice apology. Or a couple of us think so.

How is posting my personal opinion sexist? I never said I could be bought with jewelry, I find that to be incredibly offensive. Am I also racist because I have a chocolate instead of a yellow? Liking sparkly things doesn't make me any less of a woman. Calm your jets.

Maybe she should join this forum to get some idea about dog relationships. And this board is fun

LOL... I'm scared of that scenario. If I hook her up with the knowledge of everyone of the women on this site, I might never win another discussion. I'll be buying something sparkly every other week.

It's just a gesture to show her you are truly sorry. It is not meant to buy her. If you don't back up the gesture with actions, it never works any way.
