Also been in your shoes. I cried harder over losing the dog than the marriage. It took me years to get over it.
My heart goes out to you. (((hugs)))

I could have had the same problem, but I was really lucky because my ex didn't want either of us, so it was just me and Lynn - she was "her" dog - for twelve more amazing years. When she was leaving I was really afraid I would lose both of them, but when I heard the final verdict: either me or my folks will take care of her, it was a load off my chest. I really understand that you're hurting, but at least you know that Gibson will be loved and taken good care of.

So very sorry. Hopefully knowing he is in a good home will ease the pain.

I know exactly what you are feeling. We had a Dalmatian that had to go back to his breeder. When our first grandchild came along he was extremely aggressive to the baby and I could not chance a tragedy.

    Hugs to you

Wow....you all are just wonderful, thank you for your responses. I'm glad I finally wrote about it, it was the next step in my grieving process. I have never given up a dog before, I have had every lab from puppy to old age, 5 of them and I never want to go through this again.

I think my chocolate Scooter is secretly happy about it all, because now he gets 100% of my attention.

Thanks again, your kind words were helpful.
