Happy Dominion Day. I still miss the old International Freedom Festival, celebrating the friendship between our nations.

“It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are.”

My next-door neighbours were kind enough to say they were going to be doing fireworks in their backyard, as a heads-up for me. Before they started, just at dinnertime, a neighbour 2 doors down had an "oops" with about 5 very loud fireworks, I heard very loud bangs, so stuck my head out the back door, just in time to see a firework go off sideways into a tree! they were cowering around the side of their garage. Not sure what happened, but surely ruined their planned festivities! no damage (other than a few burnt leaves).

Scout was getting a bit wild hearing all the pops etc but not able to see what was going on, dashing about from window to window, so leashed him up and went out and sat on the back deck, with a great view of the neighbours yard. When they started doing their fireworks, he barked at the 1st couple that went off, but then settled down nicely and just appeared to watch them. They had some nice fireworks! and then the other miscellaneous bangs we could hear further away didn't seem to bother him anymore.
