I wish people would just do away w/ the labels of American, English, etc.. In the show ring, there is an Am Bred class. In reality, most of the Labs could show in that class because they are indeed "American" bred (bred here).
I'm personally of German and Irish descent. My dogs have a spattering of several countries as well. Ughh, just look at the Lab, look at the pedigree (and yes, the breeder should post pedigrees...), look for titles proving their value for trainablity, conformation, whatever is important to you, and look for depth of health clearances. If any of this info isn't offered, red flag goes up...

I guess this is Post 1. LOL. Does that mean I'm a puppy again??? Anne

Good to see you back, Anne! Yes, I hate the American/English terminology. I think many would think the newly imported English pup (Bruce?) to be an American Lab when they see him, but he is probably from good English field trial lines or working lines, from what I thought I saw. Good moderation!

Bruce is from dual purpose lines. His sire is a full champion who also work pheasant shoots during the season, and he is now training for agility. His dam is my breeders shooting dog, also working pheasant shoots. They do not show her, but there are Show Champions and Champions in her lines.
