That would drive me batty. In fact, it DOES drive me batty. There are two Chihuahuas that live across the street from us. At least once a day, those dogs are left out in the house's (gated) front courtyard, barking their heads off. Sometimes for an hour or more. I don't know the people at all, so I'm not comfortable approaching them about it. But really? How can you hear that and NOT bring the dogs inside? How can you not realize that everyone in the neighborhood doesn't want to hear it? UGH!

I had a guy living next door to me about 10 years ago who had a beagle, and a golden retriever. That damn beagle would stand in the middle of the back yard and bark for hours on end. I'd say something, and they'd keep the dog inside for a few weeks, and then back outside, and barking it's brains out. One weekend they went away for a few days, and that dog was barking all night outside. I called the cops, and they asked if the dog was in danger or neglected, I said no, so they wouldn't come out and do anything. When they got home, after 3 nights of that dogs barking all night, I let them have it. Let's just say it never happened again.

Now the other one is barking. The one from the similar situation. It's been barking for 45 minutes. They go away and leave it outside by itself. They were reported to our By-Law officer and it did get better but now, same as Barry, they are letting it bark again. In the past it has barked ALL NIGHT. They don't live close either, not even on our street.
