? on chili peeing on outdoor house column

I have 2 trees in back yard chili used to pee on. I stopped that with short fences around the tree's(didnt want them to die as they are young). Now chili is peeing on the porch column. The column is stucco and it sits on a concrete pad/deck. I usually grab the hose and spray it off...but now I am tired of doing that a few times everyday.

looking for ideas to stop this behavior and also any products to deter/clean the stucco column.

I was so proud to teach him not to potty on my fake grass and to poop on 1 side of house for easy cleanup...but now its this...always something with labs

A big rock might not suit your landscaping but it might work. Or a planter like a barrel so he'd hit the barrel instead? To teach him not to pee there would be a lot of work, I like easy methods. Hmmm, on another thread we were talking about oil of peppermint to discourage critters like cats and squirrels from planters. Maybe a month of cotton balls soaked in it would keep him away and he'd forget about it? You'd have to renew the stuff frequently. Boy, I just bet you can't clean the smell of pee out of stucco.

boys will be boys.... I have a real big "pee rock" that's a hit with any of the males coming to my yard. Scout however does do the pee lean a lot, so its not getting as much use as with my last boys, they would almost have contests with each other who pee'd the highest on the rock it seemed.

I like Snowshoe's idea, get it tall enough that he can't hit inside (over the top of it), and use it to plant neat stuff, place it somewhere that you don't mind pee dribbling down to the base of it (on some nice river rock?), and re-train him to pee there, same as house training and what you did about the potty yard not on your nice backyard.

Well not sure if it would work or not, you pee on it.

Hemi had a bush he always peed on out in the back yard. One morning 6 a.m. I am outside with him waiting on him to find a spot to poop. He likes to really search and find just the right spot and I had to go so bad my teeth were floating. I kept telling him to hurry up but eventually said screw it and peed on his bush. The look on his face was priceless. Like what in the heck are you doing dad. Then he smelled it from a distance and well to this day has yet to pee on it again. That was a year ago.

If nothing else, if you can't beat em join em.

Jeff, I wonder if that would work on the places that Grizz likes to pee on, unfortunately they are in the house!!! LOL. But I guess when Dad claims it, that's the end of the story.

For Chili, what about a post? You can get a T-post of something from Home depot and encourage him to use that? Mine like going on these orange cones I have in the back that I use for obedience training.

all good ideas that I am going to try. I like the post idea in backyard and thinking of what to decorate the post with. since I live in Southwest, maybe a fake cactus....chili has learned his lessons with peeing on cactuses by getting too close tho ouchers.

Voodoo, don't know if you want to take Jeff's advice if the column is on the front of the house. You might end up with more problems than having to wash off pee.

One thing I've done for years is to use the leave it command when walking one of the boys and they wanted to pee on something inappropriate, i.e. neighbors bushes, etc. There were a few spots, a certain light pole, stop sign, that they always wanted to pee on but occasionally I would tell them to leave it just to reinforce the command.
