    Checking In

Max has been a part of our family for 10 days now. Not gonna lie, I had major puppy blues for the first 3 days and actually cried from being so overwhelmed. We are starting to get into a routine and life with a new puppy is getting a bit easier each day. We attended our first puppy kindergarten class this past weekend and Max enjoyed playing with the other pups. Crate training has been going very well. We are so blessed that he has been sleeping through the night in his crate since the first night home. His crate is now in the living room where it will stay and so far so good. Potty training is still very hit & miss. He has #2 down, but we still have to be on him to ensure he doesn't pee in the house. Also still working on the biting. Bitter apple has helped with things around the house, but he still loves hands & fingers. The biggest surprise is how much he's grown in just 10 days! So in love with our Max

It's always so nice to read an "all's right with the world" puppy thread. Yay Max.

You wouldn't be the first one to wonder what the heck you'd gotten yourself into! Even once they've got you wrapped around their little paw, there may still be moments/hours/days of frustration, it's normal. So glad to hear things are looking up and that little Max is working his charming magic!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

The first couple weeks can be very difficult and stressful. It sounds like you have gotten in to a good routine with Max, and you are well on your way with the journey that is having a Labrador!!!!

Thanks everyone. We are looking forward to taking him on walks and the beach! Right now it's a lot of indoor & backyard play. We have a pool so we've started giving him swimming lessons. He loves when the kids splash him. He runs around the pool waiting for it. It's so much fun watching him interact with them (when he's not trying to chew on them).

Great update! Obviously because of your patience and loving training, he is learning.
