    Bacon misses his Daddy

Jake is gone fishing for the weekend, he left yesterday. When I got home, Bacon was thrilled to see me, per usual. However, when Jake didn't come home at his normal time, he was constantly looking for him. After a while, it seemed as though he was almost mad at me! Taking his time when called, not snuggling up to me on the couch.

Then, this morning when I got up, usually I feed him, and then he sleeps until Jake gets up for work (I am up at 5). This morning, I had him lay on his bed while I got ready for work. When I released him so we could go outside, he went to the bed and searched under the covers for Jake. I nearly cried! He misses his daddy so much already!

    Anyone have any similar stories?

Bacon and bubba feel the same way! Everyday when my boyfriend leaves for work Bubba sits at the door and whines (I work from home so I'm there all day). As soon as bubba hears the sound of a car locking, the sign that my boyfriend has arrived back home and is walking to the door, he started going bonkers with his butt wiggling.

The best part is that whenever my bf is already home and someone on the street locks there car bubba perks up like "daddy's home?" And we say no look bubba he's already here! Bubba turns to him as though he's seeing him for the first time and the butt wiggling starts all over again!

I had never left my prior chocolate lab Mocha with anyone for more than a few hours. My mother had bought a place in Florida and wanted me to bring her down and look the place over. A week off in January for me - yes I'm in. I left Mocha with my brother. When I called him on the 3rd day, he said "I don't think this dog is going to make it a week. She goes outside and sits on the steps all day watching for cars. She jumps up for every white car that goes by then sighs and lays back down when it's not you. She's not eating and she's whining half the day." She had never had an accident in the house. Well she let him know what she thought of the situation and left him a pile in the front hallway.

When I arrived home, Mocha leaped off the stairs into my arms and bear hugged me. When I put her down she grabbed my hand in her mouth and pulled be down to her. For the next week she didn't leave my sight. She truly was my side kick.

DH has always worked at home, so Kimber is used to having daddy almost 24/7. When she was a year old, he had to go out of town for a week on business. She was okay during the day because I took her to doggie daycare and such, but in the evening, she'd go sit at the door to the garage and whine. She's virtually silent- rarely barks or cries- so it was heartbreaking!

I travel more frequently for work and one time when I was out of town, DH held up the phone to Kimber. She heard my voice, perked up, and started running around the house looking for me. We don't play the 'let me talk to Kimber' game anymore.

    Hang in there, Bacon!

Thor and I do Google Hangouts with my husband when he's traveling. He can even get Thor to do tricks with hand signals through the screen (wasn't there an urban legend about dogs not being able to see 2 dimensional surfaces? Because it's baloney - he sees the hand signals and responds appropriately). Once the Hangout is over, though, Thor will whine and nose my computer. I think he thinks Daddy is in the computer (Zoolander moment - oh he's IN the computer!) Doggy drool does not go well with MacBooks.

Awwww Bacon, you are breaking my heart! I have never left Maxx for more than a few hours, I could leave Emma for a year and as long as she has Chris, (my son), all is right in her world. Chris went away hiking and camping in Colorado and Montana last year and she was a mess. He is getting ready to go away again, I got a supply of doggy xanax to help her. I can't stand the thought of dealing with her depression and anxiety again.
