I'm not taking the dog. A rant.

I was asked to take a dog the other day and said that I wouldn't even though I really wanted to.

The dog is a small fluffy girl, 6-7 months old. She was at the vet after getting spayed. Sweetest little thing ever. Mom got her as a puppy because her daughter wanted a puppy. Now the daughter isn't interested because the dog isn't a puppy anymore. The technician asked me if I wanted her.

I do. But my dogs are huge and if someone's going to get trampled, it will be that little girl. Argos has so many problems with his back end that he could fall on her and crush her. The technician can't take her because her roommate has a pitt bull with a bite history.

Why is it that someone can just waltz into a vet's office and think they can find someone to take on their responsibilities?

I just wish people would stop buying their kids puppies because their kid wants (or they think their kid wants) a puppy. Actually, I wish people would stop wanting puppies. That's like having a child because you want "a baby." It's idiotic.

If you don't want a dog, you don't get to get a puppy.

Unfortunately, it happens all to often. ACs and rescues are full of these dogs.

I can certainly understand why you can't take her with your dogs at home and their health issues. It's wouldn't be fair for your dogs or the pup.

How sad. Hopefully she finds a good home.
