Well, if you can do that . . .

I had to get a large area rug out of the attic today, discovered that a mouse had nested in it so I was up there for a few minutes. Heard a crash downstairs but I'm organizing so I figured they knocked over someone I was sorting through. Came down and saw the roasting pan upside down under the kitchen island. I had put this fairly heavy pan on the back of the counter after I roasted a huge boneless leg of lamb for the dogs' dinner. The lamb was missing.

You're probably saying to yourself, that was stupid. But here's the thing. Argos and Nikki are 11 1/2 years old and Fran is 12 1/2. Zo is too short and has dysplasia. I have no idea of how any of them achieved this feat. In fact, I can't remember the last time anyone counter surfed let alone dragged a heavy pan with a 6 lb roast in it all the way off the counter.

My question is this. If they can do that, why am I paying for chiropractic adjustments for all of them every couple of months?

Naturally, we wound up at the vet. Boneless leg of lamb is wrapped in a string net to hold it together and Argos didn't pause to unwrap it before inhaling half of the lamb without chewing. Now we're on poop watch.

The magic of a roasted leg of lamb apparently turns even older dogs into thieving pups! Good luck on poop watch!

The ultimate compliment - you're a great cook. I've learned to never underestimate what an old, arthritic dog can do when food is involved.

Oh no! Good luck with your poop watch. I would never underestimate a Lab, regardless of age or ailments when food is involved!
