Oh, no. I wonder if his struggles with walking have caused some internal overheating. My Honey had petit mal seizures diagnosed by a holistic vet purely from internal overheating...we switched her to canned food (kibble is a no-no) and used only cool/neutral food sources (per Traditional Chinese Medicine). We stopped her seizures. Since overheating triggers seizures caused by anything (if a dog is prone to them), getting off kibble is highly recommended. I don't remember what you're feeding Cookie (for some reason I'm thinking raw...but just in case it's kibble).

Many good thoughts headed your way, Elena! And

Thank you all very much for the good wishes and prayers.

It all started yesterday at around 8 pm. We were back from our evening walk, Cookie ate his dinner and "went to bed". Suddenly I heard a loud yelp and ran to the kitchen. Cookie was lying in his bed and my dad said he was just petting his head when he yelped. I stayed with him for a while, he appeared okay, so I went back to my room. Cookie came to the room after me, his FHO leg in the air, so I guessed he overdid it on Sunday and now it hurts (we went for a walk by the river on Sunday, and Cookie hasn't been there since the accident. The walk wasn't too long but Cookie was overexcited). However, he suddenly started losing his balance and his head started leaning to the left, he appeared disorientated. Then he calmed down, walked to the front door, and I started getting dressed to take him out. He realised he was about to go for a walk and was very happy, tail wagging. Then he lost his balance again and he fell, his head leaning to the left again. Then he was back to himself again, but started panting. I went to call the vet. Vet said it sounds like a minor stroke or epileptic seizure. To bring him in. Cookie had two attacks during our trip and two more in the vet office. Every attack lasted for about a minute. Vet gave him two injections and prescribed sedatives to be given in the morning and in the evening. I asked him what he thought about this and he said "honestly, I don't like it". He said it could either be a tumor (which needs a CT scanner to be diagnosed) which is the worst possibility, or, since Cookie has spondylosis, a bone fragment in the spine may be pressing a nerve and causing the loss of balance and the head tilt.

Cookie had one more attack on the way home and hasn't had any since, for now. He slept well through the night and he appeared okay this morning. My parents told me he is eating fine. He is just a little bit groggy, but I guess it's from the shock and the sedatives. The meds seem to be working for now. We are heading to the vet in the afternoon, after work.

Barb, Cookie is raw fed, it's been almost 3 years now. We did a full blood panel a couple of weeks ago, everything came back fine. He was tested for erlichiosis, lyme, anaplasmosis and heartworm and all tests came back negative. He was doing so well. I don't know what happened.
