Hi All—
We don't celebrate Christmas (we're Jewish), so for the Christmas holiday we traditionally escape the city and come down to Long Beach peninsula (28 miles of beach, the longest in the U.S.). There's a place we stay... it attracts a hodgepodge of folks who otherwise don't celebrate Christmas, or just want to celebrate it here, at the beach, with other strangers. Just had a huge fancy potluck dinner of 25+ people in the main lodge; now I am back at the cabin with Hoku as they all do a "white elephant" thing.
Today was Hoku's first introduction to the Big Water—the Pacific. No swimming, of course, but she loved running on the beach, all the smells—fish, seafood, kelp, rotting things. Ran and ran (on leash, but loose) on the beach. She is now snoring, wickedly, on one of the beds. She'll be in her crate later, but for now, I give her this sneaky pleasure.
I'll post some photos soonish. Right now I am enjoying my quiet cabin by the Pacific with my lovely lovely dog.

sounds like a lovely way to spend Christmas eve- i get invited various places, and my friends where i usually go, have invited me again, but tonight, sprang the "bring Scout" on me....stress! soooo happy he can come, but sooooo hoping he'll be on his best behavior!
sounds like Hoku is loving the beach life! now you're going to have to take her more often!
