    Pay it Forward and RAKit

Everyone knows I've had a rough month. The pain of Bruce's passing has eased a little bit, but I still find myself tearing up on a daily basis, and there is still a gaping hole in my heart. Many of you have reached out to me on this board, by IM, and a lot of cards. It has touched me down to my soul how the people here are able to care about someone they've never met, and grieve for a dog they never knew.

I normally make a few donations this time of year. A couple of days ago I was pondering all the normal worthy causes I've donated to over the years. Then it dawned on me there are a few people here on this board who have been through a lot with their dogs this year, and I know that the vet bills have to be stacking up at a pretty good clip.

I contacted JenC to clear this through her before I posted this. I also contacted the people who I'd like to help, so I'm not just springing it on them.

In memory of Bruce, I'd like to make a donation to Elena (Berna) and Cookie, and Sarah (doubledip1) and Comet.

As we all know Elana (Berna) and Cookie have been through a great deal since Cookie was hit by the car several months ago. I contacted her to see how I could make a donation to her to help defray her vet costs. The only problem is how to get the money to Serbia, which evidently not easy to do, so if there are any smart people out the who can tell me how to do this please let me know. I'm sure many people here would love to help if they can.

Sarah has literally been through hell try to find out what was wrong with Comet, there were times I'm pretty sure she was going to lose him. Thankfully, she finally found a vet who diagnosed the problem, and was able to perform surgery today. Hopefully Comet is on the road to recovery and will soon be tearing things up just like a Lab puppy should!!!

You can make a donation to Sarah via Paypal to this email address: sarah.lant3@gmail.com

It doesn't have to be a lot. I'm sure even $5 or $10 will help. Christmas is a time of giving, and knowing I can help a couple of people who care about their dogs as much as I care mine will help heal my broken heart.

I think it's human nature to want to help others in need, Paying it Forward and Random Acts of Kindness are ways for us to do that.

Thanks also goes out to Fran (POPTOP) as she's the one who originally put this thought out to me.

If Berna has a PayPal account, you (and others) can send her money directly through that. I have sent money via PayPal to individuals overseas (Poland), and had a friend send me money through PayPal when I was soliciting donations for a local homeless charity I support.

You are all so amazing. Just your words of comfort and knowing you all are virtually here with me, hovering by the phone and hovering in the exam rooms with me means more than I can ever say. I have no doubt Comet's recovery is thanks to the good thoughts from all of your posts, PMs, Facebook posts and messages...

I owe this board my sanity.

If I can ask just one thing on top of your incredible kindness, is that you know your dog better than ANYONE else, and when you know something is wrong, keep fighting for them.

Barry, thank you for getting this further than I was able. Hopefully the PayPal option will work for Elena and Cookie too.

I don't know how I missed this thread!

I'll go to the bank tomorrow and ask them. For now, I know that I can send money (did that a couple of times) but I am not sure if I can receive money. I'll let you know.

I said it already, but I have to repeat myself. This board is AMAZING. All this support from people I haven't even met, yet it feels like I've known you for years. I am speechless.

    Thank you. Thank you all.

So, sending a donation in US dollars would work out OK, Elena?
