    Am I wrong?

Our holistic vet shipped out a supplement with her standard $8 shipping charge but I hadn't asked her to ship it. In fact, I had ordered it as part of a larger order that I would be picking up on Thursday.

I e-mailed and said that the shipping charges were insane and she wrote back that she was very sorry but didn't understand what I meant by "insane". Then she said that shipping was very expensive and every time she ordered anything online, it was expensive. I wrote back and said that I never pay shipping for online orders because I take advantage of minimum order charges and coupon codes to avoid them.

She's a great vet but I really feel that this is completely disrespectful. $8 is $8. I'm a couponer and extreme coupon when I can. I can do a lot with $8. I'm not trying to get into a tiff but really?

    Am I wrong?

She may incorporate the shipping charges she pays (and she definitely may pay depending on what she's ordering and from where) into what she charges you...but to ship it to you when you stated that you'd be picking it up is wrong.

Maybe most people prefer that she ship things to them and she just forgot what you'd said about picking it up.

I'd chalk it up to miscommunication and pay the $8 and move on...from here on, make sure you specify clearly that you'll be picking something up so that she can put a note in her records.

You just saved $21 at a restaurant. 8 bucks, really? Yes, it's high, but doesn't qualify for insane - $24 bucks for shipping - that would be insane. I would chalk it up to her or her office being busy, forgetful or just a miscommunication. If it were me, when I went Thursday I would apologize for over reacting and ask that they please put a note on my file that I never, ever, want stuff shipped, that I will always fetch it up myself.

I'd say pay the $8 and move on. Not worth quibbling over.

I think the word "insane" may have annoyed her.

If it was part of an order you were going to pick up I would actually ask for the refund. But thats me. You did not request it shipped and its there error you should not have to pay for that.

$8 to you may be the equivalent of $20 to someone else. I wouldn't have used the word insane though. I personally would just pay the $8 and move on.

I was very specific about not shipping and always have been unless it's a bulk shipment. I think it's a trust issue. My credit card is on file with them. If they ship everything individually, it will cost hundreds of dollars every year.

I can't shake it and I figured out today what's bugging me. They can't charge my card without my permission. That's bad precedent. I can also get most of this stuff online with free shipping but she gets mad when I do that. I did that for a few years though and probably should go back to that.

Probably shouldn't have used the word "insane" though. It is pretty ridiculous to be charged that for a tiny bottle but I didn't realize what was really bothering me.

I think that the only thing I disagree with is that since I saved in one area, it should be automatically applied to another. I'm not supporting the post office. They do have those instructions as well. I think I need to take the credit card away.

I'd just move on. I don't think the vet profited, and it was an error, clearly an innocent one. I'm not seeing any sign of disrespect (but I really don't like to quibble over money, esp. when it's a relatively small amount and it was clearly an error. I know people who spend $8 on coffee and a scone every day.)
