My home visit went very well I got a totally different feel getting interviewed by her than with the other rescue . I asked tons of questions and I love they won't make a dog available til its been in foster at least two weeks to give it time to adjust and see if any problems occurs. You get a mentor who you work with. You the foster report back with updates, you make a blog for the dog your fostering you tell then when you think the dog is ready and then when applications come in you sit down with the mentor and go thru then and pick the best fit since you have been living with the dog .

I like that I get to be more involved placing bc that's where with the other rescue made me mad at how she placed dogs .

She said that she still had to call my references then she would email to let me know if I'm approved or not . when the right dog comes in another volunteer will drop the dog off and make sure introductions go well.

    Fingers crossed!!!!

I hope you gave her the URL for this board. We all know how much you have done for rescues. Good luck.

I had to ask the question what if I'm a foster fail hahaha they are labs after all. I can imagine wanting to keep them al . She said after a certain number they waive the adoption fee she said fosters get first pick and they get a discount on the adoption fee. She also said occasionally they do get preg mama dogs and I said I would love to do them as well. She said I had a great yard for all the labbies. I'll keep you updated. I never thought to leave you guys as references I'll email her and let her know.

Well I'm super bummed I didn't hear anything back after a week so I sent an email. She got back to me saying that I wasn't approved BC I have 5 dogs and they only allow foster homes have 4 dogs to foster. I really love fostering and without a rescue really knowing me and giving me a shot I'm feeling defeated. I know I have a lot of dogs but I'm not your average pet owner. My dogs are trained, I know a lot about dog behavior, I have a trainer who I can call on for advice or help, I work at a vet for 14 years. I wish they would have told me before coming out and doing a home check. She claimed she didn't know.

They don't know what and who they are missing out on. Sorry, you didn't get it.

wow. that's awful on a few levels. Heck some rescue people are the worst for having too many dogs :P (like the board members/leads). But terribly rude to put you thru all that, if you have hard and fast rules you need to check them out beforehand.

I am not a big fan of hard rules like that. some people manage multiple dogs much better than one or two. very sad.
