    Bragging Karma

Earlier this week I was bragging on here about what a well behaved dog Macy has become as she celebrated her third birthday. Karma just bit me. Our neighbors are replacing their fence. They took it down and the new posts are settling and so our yard is not secure until the fence people come back. I was not too concerned because Macy has great recall. Or so I thought. We go out and Macy explores her new, open world. She doesn't appear interested in going past our yard. This is all part of her devious plan. A bit later, she leaps down the neighbors retaining wall and off she goes. Right in front of me. She is having a grand time, sniffing and peeing and not listening. Not listening at all! She came running when I shouted the magic word "Treats". This worked better than "come, Macy".
So it's back to school for the Big Girl and I take back the nice things I said about her on her birthday post.

But the world is so exciting out there!

I've found as soon as you brag, they are going to act up. Happens every time.

Lol, always the way it works! Thank goodness she did come back and it did not become a lengthy adventure.

I'll go along with this and, you should've seen me when, some 30 years ago, this well-trained, well-behaved and disciplined soldier finally got out of the barracks after two years of mandatory military service

She came back, which is something to brag about. Just a bit of a brush up would do. Or maybe going back to school will give her more of a challenge?

It happens. For us, it's "Cookies!" when they get distracted.

Just when I think Bobby's begun to settle down and behave, he's like, "Haha! Nope! Let's see how much I can embarrass you today!" *cough*puppyschool*cough* We have a saying of enjoy it while it lasts because tomorrow, expect something terrible to happen. Glad Macy came home. The outside world is just so interesting after all.

Yep, I'm right there with you. My dogs have been doing awesome for the past YEAR and then as soon as I hit the "submit" button for their first trial, they have both completely forgotten everything and are acting like baboons! Gah!!!
