I think Bobby belongs in the "clueless" crowd with Maxx. Everyone is a long lost friend who he has never seen for a million years. Every dog is a long lost friend he's never seen for a gazillion years. Every place is a great, big adventure and Bobby is always perpetually happy. When he gets a few pets from strangers, he is down for a belly rub within five seconds flat.
We've been approached by off leash dogs a few times before. Never been a large breed but usually one of those small, yappy dogs that come over to Bobby growling and barking. In turn, he thinks he has a new playmate! Luckily for us, the owners were always good about calling their dogs back or coming over to leash them up. Most who walk around off leash are normally quickly leashed up before we get too close so we usually only get approached by off leash yappers when their owners don't expect anyone walking by and are busy talking.

Oban would stand up very straight and tall, position himself very slightly at an angle to the approach, his tail would stand right up straight and he'd get ready to do battle. The faster and straighter the other dog is coming the taller he stands. Oban has been attacked twice by charging dogs who both skipped the introductory sniff. Both neighbour's dogs, both nasty with any other dog. Unfortuately it was the OH walking Oban. I have since met both dogs several times. One we are now ok with, the other is still bad and I've even phoned the OH to come pick us up so I can skip meeting that one dog again on our way home.

Depends, if the dog is charging over in a playful manner, Hemi would probably jump down in to a play stance and say bring it. If the dog is charging in an aggressive manner, he has to go through me. I am no small guy though, Hemi is 94 lbs and I can pick him up with one arm, not easy but can. But if it mean me going through some pain to protect Hemi then yeah, I wouldn't think twice. I would try scaring the other dog away and other things but if it came to it I would quickly put myself in harms way for Hemi.

If they were all off leash it would have been fine, but the dog really came flying at us (even I was nervous) so I can see why Charlie got defensive (not defending him I hate that behavior). Niner is just a big dork - he's like "why you all bent out of shape Charlie?" LOL

My girls love it. They like everyone!

Koopa is rather leash reactive with dogs so he would most likely growl at the dog and raise his hackles. This has happened a few times where I used to live with my dad unfortunately.

haven't run into this situation yet, but when both off leash chili either stands his ground or runs away depending on the other dog. sometimes chili drops to the ground wanting to play, and if he runs away and gets caught he immediately rolls on his back. Chili used to run and be the 1st to greet other dogs as they entered the dog park...now he sits back and waits for them to come to him.

Misty would get her hackles up and growl and bark and possibly bite.
Bogey would be so excited. He'd get his hackles up but would have a wagging tail and want to sniff, sniff, sniff.

Abby is so friendly she probably would just have wagged her tail or hid behind me if she really thought the dog intended harm. I on the other hand, would have intervened before the dog actually got to us.
