Talking I found our new furry baby

Hello everyone and especially those who responded to me to help me with advice on finding a good breeder.
My hubby and I chose our new little black labbie puppy yesterday. We will bring her home on Dec.4th. I'm counting the days. It's been a while since we raised a little one but still remember how much work it took. However, the fun far outweighed the effort.
There were two little girls to choose from. When the breeder brought them out, the first one ran to her mother, the second ran to us. Guess which one we chose? Yip, the one that came to us. My apologies to you breeders out there. I know this is not a very knowledgeable way to choose but it works for us. You see... things are simpler when you don't know any better.
Now we must prepare the house. Any tips on helping her to settle in quickly will be appreciated.

Congratulations Mo!

Henry chose me, rather than me choosing him and so far it is working out brilliantly!

I bought a cuddly toy (a slipper) that I slept with for a few nights before I picked Henry up. I put it in his crate with him while we travelled home from Cornwall (300+ miles) and he takes it to bed with him every night. Whenever he snuggles down during the day, that is the thing that stays with him.

Our baby Luke chose my son Dorian! And its worked out just beautifully!

Congrats on your new pup! So exciting. As for preparing, I would start with the essentials:
Food
Bowls for food and water
collar/leash
id tag
dog shampoo
crate if you are crate training
doggy bed
good toys
an emergency puppy kit
choose a vet/make an appt for first visit/shots/deworming
get the camera ready

hmm, I am sure I am missing something...best of luck to you!!! Can't wait to see pics!

I can't wait to take the pics.
Thank you for the advice on the slipper. I'll try that. I've also heard that a warm hot-water bottle helps wrapped up carefully so the pup can't chew it. Has anyone tried that?
I'll make sure I have everything on your list. One more question...How can I make the next three weeks go faster? *laughing*

Oh and something else. What toys/chewies do you recommend for a puppy?

Teething keys and put them in the freezer before giving them to her. Those were King's favorites. It is three of them(mulitcolored) on a ring and they are safe for the puppy to eat just as long as it isn't in big chunks. usually King would just gnaw at them and it prevented him from destroying things.
Good luck with the new puppy!

Only thing I can recommend before puppy comes home is reading a couple of lab puppy books to get refreshed on the whole thing. I found they had some pretty good tips in them on every subject. Half priced books has a selection to choose from.

First of all congrats on the puppy !!!!!

I have used a windup alarm clock wrapped up in a blanket. They say the ticking reminds them of their litter mates. It works !!!

Yeah a new pup- how exciting!

My advise is sleep in now you won't get to once your pup comes home

Did your breeder recommend a food? If not do some research and find what food you will feed. There is a ton of info on choosing a food if you use the search feature.

When Lola was a pup we had all kinds of different toys stuffed, kong, ropes, balls. She would go through phases and really like certain toys at different times. She didn't want anything to do with a ball until she was 5 months old.

As far as a name goes -I made lists and lists of puppy names and then when I picked up my pup the Kinks song Lola came into my head - so she named herself.

Take lots and lots of pics - It's so amazing how quick they grow.

Congrats!!
Hannah picked me out as well! She was the only one out of ten that wouldn't go running back to her momma. She would climb in my lap then off to play with her siblings, then back to me.
