CONGRATULATIONS! Can't wait to see pictures.

Bandit did the same thing. At 7 years old we had a choice of him or his sister and he was the one who came up and leaned against me and gave me the "look" with those big brown eyes. Hooked!

You might ask the breeder to send home a towel or piece of blanket she slept on there; along with the toy/towel/stuffie you sleep with.

For names, if you post the sire and dam's names, pedigrees would love to help with a name. Maybe a name related to an activity your family likes to do. Then again, some puppers just have a way of naming themselves (super-pooper does not qualify).

Thank you guys, lots of good advice. The ticking clock is a great idea...so my shopping list grows. I've also heard of a little pillow or stuffed dog that you can warm up and it has the sound of a heartbeat. Have any of you heard of this?
I love the name Lolabell--good choice.
We have a few names on our list. I like Kaylee but the list keeps growing along with my shopping list and like Lolabell maybe she'll choose her own name.

Yes, who can resist a little puppy.
Although I was quite content with my old gal when she was with me and I still long for her. This new girl will find her own place in my heart.

Congrats on your puppy!! Stuffed animals will work for awhile but she will soon learn how to tear them up. I have had great success in any kong products, they are very resiliant. And jolly ball toys are great to.

I loved Ozzie's pics. I must learn how to do that so I can keep a journal of pics. They grow up so quickly. I don't want to miss a minute.
I have a good camera now. Wish I'd had it when Cassie was here. Llook out friends, you'll be sick of my pics.
I bought a puppy Kong today and I also found a little furry doggie with a warmer that fits inside and can be heated in the microwave. I think it is meant for a baby's crib but this will do the job nicely. Yes, I remember how well they can chew. But if this gives me a couple more hours of sleep during the first few days then it's worth it.
Only 14 more days to go! Whoo!! Hoo!!

These 14 days must feel like torture!

BTW there is no such thing as too many puppy pics.Take many and post often! My DH and I were looking at Lola's baby pics a couple days ago and we got all sentimental. Where did our baby go?

2 things I though of that are handy to have with a new pup - Nature's Miracle to clean up any accidents and Bitter Apple spray- to prevent chewing on furniture.

Can't wait for pics!!

I bought better apple spray when Cassie was a puppy and I think she liked it! Everything I sprayed she chewed.
I now have a crate, a sheepskin (actually it is a saddle pad that I don't use anymore) but it'll be very cozy for her. I bought stainless water/feed dishes $$$$$$ I'm spending like a drunken sailor on a Saturday night. Oh well, what else is money for? Oh, and I got a baby-gate from a friend so I can confine her for play.
Only 12 more days. I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas.
Something else you guys might be able to help me with...
I never crated my dogs in the past, this will be the first time. I've read that you must get up every 2 hours during the night to let them out to pee. Yikes! I'll have sleep deprivation by the end of the first week. Suggestions PLEASE!

Hello Labbie friends,
Only 9 more days to go. The breeder sent me a couple of pics yesterday. Boy, she has really grown in the last couple of weeks. As soon as I figure out how to attach them, I will send them to you for your opinion.
I've been doing some research on dog food. It really scared me. I'm going to switch this little one to Wellness as it doesn't contain these harmful additives but I would eventually love to make my own. I remember "back-in-the-day" when dogs ate what we ate and they lived until 20 years with fewer health problems than we see today. Do any of you make your own? Any tips? Perhaps it's better to wait until she's fully grown and then I don't have to worry about formulas for growth etc. Opinions please!

Mo, so glad that you were able to find a puppy. What kennel did you finally find her at?

I would suggest that for toys, but the size appropriate for an adult lab. They grow so fast and really don't want a choking hazzard when they are older. You will waste money having to re-buy everything.

As for food, please don't switch right away - it is just too hard on the puppies tummies. They are dealing with the stress of re-locating and with a new food, they could not handle the switch too well. I suggest waiting until they are 6 month old and you switch to adult food (if they feed a puppy forumula, which many don't as it just fine)
