For puppy names-I've got Mercy and ziva for a girl and Archie for a boy(I know, not that original).
Your finding names among class members can work both ways. There are a number of names I'd never use, not because I don't like the names but because I've known kids with that name and... yeah, no. No more babies for us anyway and we won't get a vote on any grandbaby names.

Our dogs have had mostly "human" names, some not- Bridget, Brandy, Magpie, Jack, Teddy, Chase, Lark. One of these days I'd like to name a dog after an (?) animal from Jabberwocky- the Frumious Bandersnatch, and call him Bander. Somehow a small black scruffy dog seems more like a bandersnatch than a lab does though, so maybe I'll also fall prey to a little black scruffy dog one day. An affenpinscher looks like a bandersnatch to me but I'd have to decide if their temperament is right for us- it's so easy to fall for a cute little face on a bossy, headstrong little demon. “Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Baby: No way, that equipment was removed long ago.

    Puppy:
Private First Class, call name Grunt
Sargent Major - call name Sarg
Heart And Soul - call name Soul
Rainbow's End (as in pot of gold) - call name Rain

We don't get to pick names. When getting seniors they come with their names that they have had for many years and I choose not to change it. Must say, each name has so perfectly fit their personality.

Jake has it in his head that we will only have boys, so we like Oliver, Logan, Robert (to go by Rob or Robby for my uncle), I am trying to get him to consider Lief (pronounced Leaf, old Norwegian Name)

For our next pup, its my pick for names!!!! Tobias (or Toby), Sven, Bjorn, or Niko (Yes, I do have a thing with old Nordic Names!)

No babies in here but our future chocolate girl that we're hoping for has already got a name: Amegilla Eleanor; calling name Ellie.
