Looks to be an interesting read

Dogs, Dog Food and Dogma: A Review.

Mostly everyone knows that the human BMI scale is grossly inaccurate in direct proportion to the lean body mass an individual has. (For example, it would rate an olympic gymnast as obese.) The author of this book says that the rating system most often applied to dogs is similarly distorted. I know this to be true because Ram Jet Rocket Dog with her developed chest muscles from swimming and her powerful gluteous muscles otherwise meets the criteria for undernourished. She has (very embarrassingly for a lab owner) a tuck up, and little to no fat over her ribs. (Her hip-bones and spine are not prominent, however.)

Anyhow this book appears to be a cri de coure for throwing out the typical dog-weight ratings and keeping your dog as fit as possible. The reviewer did not get in to whatever specific dietary recommendations are in the book.

I saw some info about this book not too long ago, it mentioned being against the dog food industry, and the fact that most commercial dog foods share common ingredients that could be contributing to obesity in dogs. So I imagine the author is recommending raw or some sort of homecooked diet.

That's not going to happen in our house. I can't be bothered to tailor make my own food.
