    Brownish Red tear stains

I am wondering how I can get rid of the brownish/red tear stains under my dog Sunny's eye. Someone suggested Benydryl as it might be an allergy?

Her eyes tear and that's dust, etc., staining the tear tracks.

You can get topical stuff to clean the tracks....I'd bought something (marketed for white Poodles, actually) for Brutus but in the end decided to just let him keep the tracks. Bru had loose lower eyelids but no allergies.

It is often considered to be a red yeast infection. In pups, it can be part of maturation as the head changes shape and as they cut teeth. Some foods and minerals in water can increase staining. Clean it daily with Angel Eyes. Consider using an all natural (Vet's Best?) supplement to decrease staining. You may wish to have the eyes checked for eyelashes or eyeluds rubbing. Also consider using an eye wash at least once a day while you work on it, as even dust, pollen or moldy leaves can increase tearing and staining. (I raise and show Cavaliers and groom, too.)

Interesting - Cookie went through a month or so when she was younger where she was getting them, but they’ve since gone away. Wonder if it was a developmental thing for her.

Linus had them until I changed his diet to a corn/wheat/soy free food.

Interesting....too bad I didn't have this forum back in the 80's with Brutus. No one ever suggested a food connection. (Bru was on a lamb & rice food.)
