    Remember its what YOU want to do. Spaying is a good idea but you've waited this long, why not be safer and give it a few more weeks after she's done. It's not about when the vet wants to do it. You are paying them to do what you want to do.

    I just feel nervous about her not being spayed. Like I feel like if I cant get it done soon then what if she gets that infection?
    these girls have GOT to give me a break

    None of mine have every been whiny while in heat, but friends with other breeds tell me stories of theirs being hormonal messes who are unusually clingy, flighty, etc. to the point where they take a break from Obedience work because the girls are useless.

    Cookie is in season now and is working/focusing better than usual! They are all different. My only problem with her is her propensity to remove her panties when I’m not looking. By the way, the flow getting lighter in the 2nd week usually happens around the time they ovulate ... it will probably darken up and get heavier again before it is over.

    As for the timing of surgery, if it was just the spay I would wait, but she still needs that mammary tumor removed, right? I would be in much more of a hurry about that than worrying about pyometra.
