    Yuck, Oban has Roundworms

First question, why must we describe these things using food? We all know tapeworms look just like rice. When the Vet asked me what it looked like she said rice or spaghetti, aka roundworms, were the only ones we can see without a microscope. Actually, I grocery shopped today, I'd say bean sprouts.

We are waiting for a faecal sample to come back, just to check if there's anything else we should treat for. We found the worms, no other symptoms. The one in his poop today is frozen in the snow he deposited it in. Is it odd he'd get them in winter? He doesn't eat poop.

But didn't he get into some food left on a trail last week?

How the heck would he get them this time of year???? Very odd..... Hopefully that's all it is and you can get rid of them quick.

Yes, but it was Thursday. Or Wednesday. Eggs wouldn't turn into full grown roundworms in that time, would they? I just googled two sites for a time frame between egg and 6 or so inch roundworm and all I can find is "soon" for hatching.

My understanding is that they can pick them up (the eggs, I guess) just by sniffing the turds of infected animals.

Thought, though...does Joey bring dead things into the house or somewhere where Oban could come in contact with them? Perhaps Joey, too, is infected?

Worms happen but they sure are yucky. Bet he sniffed, licked or taste tested something.

He has probably had them since summer, no biggie, (I hate worms though and worm my guys on a schedule, so I don't have any, not even my babies, thank goodness) at least they aren't whipworms. :-)

Oban was on Revolution till November and so was Joey. It's supposed to hit roundworms. I know they are not too big a deal but no more sharing orange pieces. I give him a segment, my fingers go in his mouth, then I take a segment with the same fingers. No more.

Yes, there is a veritable mortuary under our deck in winter. The cats, Joey and the ferals, take their prey there to eat in a snow free place. I have never seen Oban crawl under there and I wonder how cold sensitive roundworms and their eggs are. But if they can take the cold he's had ample opportunity to sniff them somewhere.

And now I'm on coffee filter watch as well as roundworm watch, in the poop. I asked OH to let Oban lick the bits of kefir I filtered off the coffee filter. I warned him to not let Oban eat the filter but he got it, gulp, gone. Lovely. I'm sure this too will pass.

Maybe it'll scrape out the remaining worms....
