Thanks to all for the insight here, Zeke is going in for a snip this coming Tuesday, going to be micro-chipped too. Hope he still wants to hang out with me when this is all said and done.
What a great pic, glad he is doing well!

Thanks, I'm still going back and forth whether or not I should do it, I've read so many pro's and con's it's confusing, thinking on the subject seems to have changed over the years, also I've read that a Lab is normally done after waiting at least 18 months, Zeke is a few days over 16 months.
OMG! That picture of him with the undies on is waaaay to funny ROTFL!!! Ah if looks could kill I would be hiding if I were you hahahahahaha.
Thor,
I must say you can rock some undies. I will be sure to show Hemi how well you wear them.

Healing update: his stitches and incision are healing up great. He hasn't been too interested in licking so we've only used the cone when we can't directly supervise him (like at night when we're sleeping).
He had his last dose of pain killers this morning and oh boy did the crazy come out after they wore off. I can tell this dog has not had exercise in 6 days. He destroyed 3 toys that he's had for years. Look at him the wrong way and it instigates the zoomies. Luckily he's healing so well that I think we can start to let him run and play a little bit. The challenge will be reigning it in and not letting it get out of control.

LOL, Yeah I think we lost a few toys. honestly at 6 days I was talking Hemi on long walks, leashed so he couldn't get out of control but 3-4 miles.
Dogs don't have a developed forebrain like people so they think quite a bit differently (some say better) than us. They don't tell themselves stories so I don't imagine that your dog will hold a grudge. I have done many surgeries and treatments on dogs throughout their lives and most of them love you each time they come in. That is why we vets do the work.
