My dog has white stuff running from his eyes

My 2 year old lab has a white, mucusy looking fluid coming from his eyes. I couldn't help but notice that it started the same time I started having allergy related symptons. He is acting normal in every other way. Energetic and eating well. Could this be allergies or is this something I should take him to the vet for?

Yellow/green means infection. So if not those colors, it's probably nothing serious.

Thanks Jen. It's definitely not yellow or green, so hopefully it will clear it.

Ask your Vet to culture it. White can be infection too. My dog's was almost clear, yet it was conjunctivitis and some kinds are very contagious to both your other dog and you. It could be from an injury too, a cut on his cornea, which should be looked at. Doesn't matter what colour, eye goop shouldn't be there all of a sudden. If it's an allergic reaction (itching is the more ususal reaction, but it could be) you'd want to know that too, and what to do about it.

My dog has white stuff running from his eyes

Jules had white stuff in his eyes all his life especially in dusty environments. The left eye was always worse. I just wiped them with a tissue. It was allergies.

Because its involving the eyes, I would personally take him to the vet. If it is just allergies, your vet can advise you on possible solutions as well

Since the eyes are involved, I'd would take him to the vet. I am not knowledgeable to take a chance.

It’s probably not that serious, but since it is brand new, I would give it a day or two and if it doesn’t clear up on it’s own, I would get it checked just in case.
