We went through knee surgery with our guy. Now, six months later he still needs Carprofen and Tramadol. Getting the dosage right takes some work on our part. (Tramadol smells and tastes awful to many dogs, we buy Greenie or Milk Bone pill pockets to mask the taste and smell. Tramadol can run over $200 a month, but we learned we can buy him a prescription plan from Walgreens, (in his name $32/year) which allows us to fill his Tramadol needs for about $75 per month.

Found the same thing. Was very careful after handling Tramadol, hiding it in something, to wash my hands before presenting to the dog. Did help.

Poor Grace! Guess the only good thing to be said about this is that it is a more superficial surgery, not like going into the abdomen or messing with muscles.

Sending plenty of mojo and prayers. Also sending mojo for your pocketbook.

I'm sure Grace will be just fine. I've had those little eye bumps taken off dogs and cats. If they are on the underside of the lid they rub on the eye, I was told, but I never saw a cat or a dog pawing at their eyes. Jet had a small bump off her elbow but it came back, was removed again and then there was not enough skin to attach and it was a mess. But she had no trouble at all with the anaesthesia. I have two Vets, one for Oban, another for the cats. I'm not sure if it relieves me or not to see them driving older, not fancy, cars than me.

Fran and Nikki did just fine at 14 and 13. Grace should be just fine. And good call on those eyelid cysts. So irritating. Nikki has had two surgeries for similar things.

Hmm ... Scully was on Tramadol for years, and Jolie had it post surgically and neither one minded it at all. Maybe because we slathered it in peanut butter?
