Dog ate tampons🤢

I called the emergency vet last night and before I could even say how many he had eaten he said bring him in right away. Which I was kinda like okay bud. Money hungry much? My dogs eaten far worse than this and has passed it no problem.
I THOUGHT he had eaten 3-4. Turns out it was SEVEN. He just threw them up now.
*** my own vet emailed me back and said to bring him in this morning if he doesn't throw them
up tonight.

Lesson learned on my end. Tonka is almost 18 months and has never went on a garbage ransack like this. From now on I will be using a different garbage he cannot access.

This could have been so much worse!!

My mom's neighbors' lab ate just one tampon a few years ago and required surgery, so yes, it is definitely an emergency.
Keep hydrogen peroxide on hand if this ever happens again! (note, you want to take them outside to administer and await the "presentation" of offending product). Anne

With dogs, the only way is a covered can. I have one in the bathroom and one in the kitchen. And I've been doing it this way for a really long time. Glad it ended well for you!

We had this happen many years ago with Dana. Hydrogen peroxide brought up the bloody mess. And we bought a garbage can with a lid on it. Lesson learned...
