I had a Catahoula on Rimadyl for several years before she died. Her death was not related to Rimadyl and it seemed to really help her. Just my experience.

What do you all do when Rimadyl is close to not helping anymore? If I don't give my 13 year old lab one pill a day, I don't think he'd be able to walk. But it's got to the point where it's just helping him enough to get by day by day. We will be out walking and he'll stop and then I'll tell him to come on, but he just stands there like it pains him to move.

Hi, I've increased the dosage when it wasn't helping anymore.
Which pill do you give her? 50 mg, 100 mg?

Ask your vet about adding in some Tramadol. That’s what we did with Scully when Deramaxx wasn’t enough anymore and it kept her going for 2 more years until she died of kidney failure at 15. Another vet friend told me that after that, they try Gabapentin, and as a last resort, knowing that long term consequences are no longer the concern, prednisone.

Point being, there are options, so talk to your vet.
