The others here have already given great advice, so I'll just add more hugs for you, your family, & your precious little puppy! Also sending along many positive thoughts & prayers, and hopes that she will pull through! If not, I agree with the others--store owes you a refund, & reimbursement for all your expenses! If they don't want to do that, there are many ways these days to go public......I wouldn't accept a different puppy from them, either--you'd probably be very lucky if you did not get another sick one. Small claims court, if nothing else......and people on here would be happy to help you find a reputable breeder so you could find a healthy puppy.

These stories always make me so sad--people expect to bring a healthy, happy new member of their family home, & it is so unfair when someone has taken advantage of them by selling them a sick puppy......

Just so I can start doing research for another puppy (later on down the road)...where should I start looking?

I live in Davie, FL. We might wait a few months to try it again. My wife, surprisingly, is taking it the hardest with our situation.

The petland will give us a refund.

I'm sorry to hear this about the pup. They are so cute, little and vulnerable when young.
We lived in Miami Lakes and Deerfield Bch so know that area well.
Get you count up to 5 and post in the Hydrant with your question "where should I start looking"? that way members can PM you the names of reputable breeders.

Is the vet sure it is pneumonia & not parvo? Though I'm not sure which would be worse, or what the difference in treatment might be......is puppy doing any better at all? My thoughts & prayers are with the precious little pup and with your family......

I have heard bad things about Petland.....

So I called the vet today to get an update and they told me Riley passed away on her own. Poor puppy

She didn't even get a chance to wear her name tag we bought her (see avatar)

Very sad for you, and this poor puppy. I can only hope you have some recourse with that pet store. Why those places haven't been outlawed I don't know. Nothing more than outlets for puppy mills.

Poor precious little baby.....thank you for loving her & doing all you could for her by getting her the best treatment at the vet's.....I'm sorry for you & your family's heartbreak. I hope that it won't be too long until a healthy, happy puppy will find its way into your hearts! :grouphug: Lighting a candle for your precious little one in eastern WA :candle: Run with wind, little one!

You can also look into a rescue pup. I would avoid any pet shop puppies, they tend to be very unhealthy and some states have laws against puppies sold in this manner. Here's the rescue site:
