    Dear Jeff,
Thanks for another year counting on us for your pet's medical insurance needs — we're so happy to have you and Chili in our Trupanion family. This email includes your policy documents and monthly cost for the upcoming year.
Transparency is important to us, so we encourage you to learn about your pet's monthly cost by reading our members' frequently asked questions about rates.
Pet Name Monthly Cost Date Effective
    Chili $40.06 9/19/2017
We're here for the life of your pet. That's why your cost is based on Chili's age when you enrolled — not their current age — which means your rate will be lower than if you enrolled today.
We want you to love us as much as we love having you as a customer, so please let us know if we can do anything to improve your experience. We're here to help 24/7 at 877.589.1854.
like I said just sharing info...this rate is for 90% no limit $500 deduct.

That's pretty reasonable. I pay the same for Brooks through Healthy Paws, and Sophie is $49 per month with Petplan. Both $500 deductible, no limit, 80% payback.

that's a great price. much more expensive when I looked (specifically for a pure bred lab - cheaper for a mix).

is the deductible yearly? per incident?

I have Healthy Paws. 80% and 250 deductible for Samson and it's 44 a month. Asher is 90% and 250 deductible and his is 48 a month. I've used both recently and have met my deductible for this year. A life saver when Samson had his knee issue. It's comforting to know his right knee is covered for when it happens as well. Very please with Healthy. Looks like Trupanion is good as well. So good to see positive feedback on pet insurance. Two of my kitties have it and I need to take my 3rd kitty in for a wellness check before I get him signed up. All my kitties are younger than 14 months.

I"m going to have to check around. I have 3 labs... 2 are elders at 9 years of age. Then there's Rocket Dog at 3. My annual fee is $1700.00 using Nationwide.

Holy cow.... I'm staying self insured at that! Though I still have considered insuring the youngster. REally should insure Ruby since she's been the more incident prone one it seems. Came up on 3 legs just a bit ago but I have to think she stepped on something wrong or got a charlie horse when she bolted from a sit to get a pigeon I was tossing from remote. Hunt test tomorrow so dang, that was a relief she's fine now.

My monthly premium just went up through Embrace. For the two dogs, I was paying $76 and starting next month it goes up to $82 per month or $992 per year. This is for both, not each. I am actually not sure what I pay for each, but I assume Sam is the more expensive one since he is older.

Per dog, annual max is $10k, annual deductible is $500 and reimbursement is 80%. I get a good deal through my bank, USAA.

I wasn't doing insurance, but I've been taking a lot of vacations and leaving the boys in other people's care, so for some reason, having insurance makes me feel better.

Many employers also offer discounts on numerous brands of insurance. It's something worth looking into, I think.

I look at it in terms of abdominal surgeries. An intestinal obstruction surgery can easily run $2000. In my years with Labs going back to the early '80's, I've found they will eat anything. Sometimes just eating too much regular food in too short a period of time (like when I forgot to put the lid on the food barrel...) will cause their gut to stop. That time, it was "just" 2 liters of IV's, some IV pepsid, some x-rays all at the Emergency Vet. 15 minutes of Labrador paradise = $1500 in vet fees. Then there was the pantie hose episode, the chew toy, the underwear, the plastic bag the dry-cleaning came in... Add to that inflation, I'm just barely covering my bases with $1700 in insurance.
