Gross.
Gross.
Hope he is ok but I can't imagine one puked up rat would be enough poison (if there was any involved at all) to make him sick.
Penny got into some mouse poison but after a call to animal poison control and going over the type of poison, it would have taken TONS to get anything near sick. It killed by causing bloat in mice (which is terribly sad!). We gave Pen stuff to puke, in the end it didn't look like she ate much if any at all. A stressful afternoon.
I had rats and mice at my previous apartment. So gross. I had the hardest time with the rat traps (so big, I had a hard time setting them up, plus placing them in a one bedroom apartment to catch anything). I tried a glue trap once, and sure enough, caught one of them. It was a long long night as I couldn't pick up the trap. Built a ramp and use kitchen tools to eventually drown it. never used one of those again.

I would look at the positive side, he would probably do very well in the dog sport Barn Hunt. Where the go through obstacles to find rats hidden in barns. The rats are in secure cages so they can't get to them but sounds like you have a good rat finder.
