    Sick after 3 day boarding

Tonkas never been from us. We took him to his breeder and they kept him Thursday-Sunday.
He ate dinner fine last night.
Some watery poops. Straining really hard. Offered breakfast this am and he turned his nose up. Found barf by the back door.
He's drinking fine and tails wagging.
Tried stealing a waffle off the table.
Vet asked me to withhold food til morning and bring him in if vomiting occurs.

Is this behaviour normal after leaving a dog for the first time? I hate seeing him not himself

Did they change his regular food? Sudden change of food can cause stomach issues.

It could be a number of things really. Is the behavior normal, could be. This is why I never board Hemi anymore. He gets too excited and doesn't know when to shut off. He will go and go and go. Both times I boarded him he tore off all the pads on all of his paws and continued to play. In fact I picked him up and he acted like nothing was wrong. The moment I got him home and in a safe spot he basically couldn't walk anymore and had to go through says of recovery. Same thing for Doggy day care, it was just go go go but he had less time to tear everything up.

When he was younger if we traveled together somewhere for longer than a few days, when I got home he would have diarrhea. Basically the vet described it like this. Some people including dogs have trouble going to the bathroom in strange spots, peoeple can't use public restrooms, some dogs have same issues. They do go, but the tummy is upset and so on. Once they get home they can relax and everything kind of comes flooding back. Hemi has become used to long trips. When I have to go out of town he stays with my sister, which he goes and goes and goes but she kennels him to force him to have time outs while she goes to work and so on.

I don't like the inappetence, watery poops and straining.

Please call your vet...I'm concerned with obstruction.

Other than a sudden food change, a sudden water change can also cause an upset tummy. For instance, if you are on city water and the breeder is on well water. Keep a close watch, not wanting to eat is a big sign.
