    Devil's Claw and Boswellia?

Anybody use herbs on their dogs? Brady gets Turmeric and Astralagus regularly (cruddy immune system due to allergies) we just recently started on the turmeric and I would like to get a good combo of herbs going for joint support.

I just ordered Boswellia and Devil's Claw - but can not find the proper dosages anywhere. He receives 1000mg of Astralagus 2x daily in the bad months and 1x daily the rest of the year, and 1,800mg of Turmeric (though I'll likely cut the dose down with the addition of devil's claw and boswellia).

Has anybody used them? The closest dose I've found for a 90# dog is 1500mg for the boswellia.

i also have cat's claw that I take for Lyme...

Taylor, my understanding is the dosage really doesn't matter, but for most general rules, I figure 1/2 to 2/3 the recommended adult dose. For example, if it says the adult dose is 3 a day on the bottle, I'll give 2. If it's 2 a day, I'll give 1. Or two, three times a day, they'll get either 3 or 4. But everything I've read says it's not a concern, as the herbs aren't like western pharmaceuticals in that it goes by weight.

Alright, thanks - I used 150lbs as a base weight for the average adult, and divided his weight by 150 to get .6 - so I've been multiplying the maximum adult dosages by .6 to figure out how many capsules daily. So as of right now I have:

3 Capsules astralagus per day (1500mg I think)
4 capsules Turmeric per day (1600mg)
4 capsules boswellia per day (1228mg)
    3 capsules Devil's claw per day (1500mg)

If possible I would recommend asking a holistic vet - dogs livers metabolize many things differently than humans so basing amounts on human dosages can lead to under or over medicating.

I'm a tech, and where they're just herbs... There should be no danger even if he were to 'overdose' - unless he was on prescription nsaids or blood thinning medication - which nobody should take herbal remedies if they're on either. I've used them in the past, but couldn't remember how I figured out the dosage and my chart I had from an Herbalist Veterinarian online is MIA.

We are using an herb mix on Indy, called "body sore". I was skeptical, but Holy cow, its great! Our oncologist is picky about what Indy gets but did prescribe this. It's great.
