Lots of good thoughts. Oban is on continual liver support as high ALT levels were a brief problem for him and are typical of many dogs with Lymphangiectasia. Its Rx Vitamins Hepato Support.

So far, so good. No throwing up and the confusion disappeared as soon as Dan spotted the treat jar at the vets' office. I presume Sunnie slept while we were gone. They got a nice walk and even got to see a couple of their "later walk" friends.

The only weird thing was that Dan was SOAKED in alcohol when he was returned to me. I don't mind a little spot of damp but I used six (6!!!) paper towels to dry off his chest, collar, and the little bag that holds his collar tags. His hair and the collar tag thing were dripping wet, his nylon collar had seepage the entire way around by the time I got to blotting it. They must have spilled it on him...maybe the top wasn't on tight or something. Not worth making a fuss over but I probably would have said something if it hadn't been so busy.

Now we wait for the phone call......

It would make me wonder if they drew the blood from a vein in his neck, actually.

We've had it drawn from dogs'/cats' necks as well as legs. I never really thought too much of it...think the best vein is used depending on the animal.

I was thinking they also used a neck vein. I personally don't like when they do it that way. Keeping Danny in our thoughts for good test results.

After watching my previous Vets poke and prod and wiggle with the needle and poor little Jetskipup getting more and more stressed about it I now prefer the neck draw. I don't freak out so I am allowed to stay. With Itty Bitty Kitty it was a necessity and it took three of us, but still better than her poor skinny little leg.

Hoping for a phone call with an easy remedy.

I remember being told that they couldn't find a good vein with Brutus and so used his neck every time. Unless I feel a wet spot or see a shaved place, I really don't stop to think where the draw was done. With Dan, I can see him being really inquisitive, causing them to think about poking where his nose couldn't go.

I wonder if it's the same with dogs as with humans...if you don't drink enough water, your veins are pretty crappy for this purpose...per the vampire who drew Bob's blood one time. I'm not sure if "crappy" was the official term.

    Oh, shoot....

Doc has to call me back later because an emergency came in while we were on the phone...but Danny's ALT increased to 300 despite all we've been doing differently.

Next up will be an ultrasound. Rats.
